In 2011, Windrush Ecology Ltd. secured a bat licence for the demolition of a detached residence in West Berkshire. The project involved detailed surveys of the building for roosting bats and the subsequent preparation and submission of a bat licence application to Natural England. The licence included a mitigation strategy and new habitat creation proposals for brown long-eared and soprano pipistrelle bats that were roosting at the property.

Historic and listed buildings are a speciality of Windrush Ecology Ltd., particularly where there are issues and concerns regarding bats and other protected species. We have worked on a number of bat surveys in Berkshire, including sites in Reading, Upper Basildon, Newbury and Hampstead Norreys. We have held bat licences for a number of commonly encountered bat species, including common pipistrelle and brown long-eared bat.

Recent projects have included barn conversions and house extensions within The Chilterns and the North Wessex Downs Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
